Hi Ladies ~

I'm just curious as to how many of you that are currently pregnant have gotten the H1N1 vaccine? I know that it's being recommended for pregnant women but I'm a little hesitant due to the fact that this vaccine has Thimerosal (the mercury-based preservative) in the mulit-dose vials. And as it so happens, being an RN, my job is now requiring me to either get the vaccine or wear a mask for the next few months while I'm at work but the only dosage they have is the multi-dose container. I know that there is controversy over Thimerosal but I don't really want to be a guinea pig for this vaccine nor do I want to harm these babies. So, I guess I'm just a little curious as to everyone elses thoughts on this. Thanks for your input :)

hi amamda...

i'm not preggo right now, my surrodaughter is just 3 months old...but it's funny that you posted this now, because i was just talking with her daddies about this vaccine !! her papa is a Dr, and he asked me if i would have wanted to get the shot if i were still expecting, my answer was "no" and he agreed with me.

i have talked briefly about it with my new IPs as well (we are hoping for a january transfer), and they are on the fence just now...leaning towards "no" as well. the lack of clinical study on the vax (with regards to pregnant women in particular) just leave us feeling uncertain...

good luck with whatever choice you make !!

I got it as well. My OB strongly recommended it and although my IPs left it up to me they preferred I get it as well. I honestly don't know if I got the single or multi dose but assuming it was the multi one since it was administered by the Health Dept.

If I were preggo, I would get the single dose vaccine only.

I got the vaccine last week and didn't think to ask which dose it was. I am not too concerned about the thimerasol after I read an article that explained that the amount of mercury in one shot, is equivelent to the amount in a tuna sandwich!
