I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time finding the right surro for you. Just keep looking and don't give up hope.

Texas is a pretty big state. How close do you expect them to be and consider it still local? There a large # of surro's that live in TX, but as Kim mentioned, most seem to be w/agencies.

I think it is also important to prioritize.

Do you want a surrogate close to you?
Do you want the best surrogate that has the highest probability of delivering a healthy baby?

Consider all the options and decide what are the priorities.

For us (we are IPs, also) - we want someone that is going to be healthy and stable - proximity to us will be less important as long as the the other criteria are met.

Good luck in your journey -

I know you said you can't afford agencies but I think you should try to look into it. The agency I was with has an office in TX and they make it a priority to match the perfect surrogate to the perfect family. At least look into it. ReproAsstInc.com

Amy, do you work for an agency? There are quite a few of us who are w/them and really are happy, but you really seem to be pushing it in almost everyone of your posts. If you're trying to recruite surro's, please post an ad in the classified's.
